In dating systems, BG, short for “Before Goethe”, as can be compared to BC, short for “Before Christ” (a mythology-based dating system), refers to years, in the Goethean calendar, before 1750, according to which 1 Jan 1749 is the start of the year 1 BG (technically 7-months and 28.5 days before or reaction synthesis the birth of Goethe), 1 Jan 1748 to the start of the year 2 BG, etc.
