In science, a conservation law refers to something, such as mass or energy, which is understood to be a conserved quantity. The central conservation law is the conservation of energy. Others include: conservation of force (a near synonym), conservation of mass (a derivative via mass-energy equivalence), conservation of matter-energy (a verbalized version of the conservation of mass, conservation of energy, intertwined with mass-energy equivalence), conservation of information (a speculative analogy).
